Two student representatives are elected from each year group (Years 7-13) in the College. Candidates make a presentation to their year group, showing how they feel they can contribute to the Council in order to make the school a better place for Students.
College Council Elections successfully took place on December 10th 2009. The Council now has representatives from all year groups.
The elections were run as much like real elections as possible. Candidates campaigned prior to the elections and were given guidance by Callington County Councillor, Andrew Long. On the day the electoral services provided booths and ballot boxes and there was a good turn out from the student body.
This term the Student Council have agreed to work towards the Student Council Bronze Award to accredit the work they do.
Students wishing to contact the Student Council can do so via any of the representatives, in person or using the College VLE.
The Student Council has strong links with the Citizenship and PSHE Department in the College, which encourages students to play a more active role in the school and their community, building skills of responsibility and leadership. The latest Citizenship Newsletter can be downloaded from the curriculum area.
