Challenge Week 2009

This year Challenge Week will be from the 13th to the 17th of July. This is an important part of the College year, providing a range of educational experiences, opportunities and challenges for all students.

The expectation is that all Year 7, 8 and 9 students will participate in this exciting and very rewarding week.

All the activities on offer have tried to include the five key areas which have been highlighted by the government's "Every Child Matters" agenda. These are being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well being.

Students may choose non-residential activities, both on and off the College site, or full week, residential activites.

Web Design and Animation
Words to Show (drama production for Primary Schools)
Music and Video Week
Football
Art Week
Photography and Creative Media
Coastal Footpath

Year 7 Day Trips (including Eden Project, Crealy Adventure Park, bowling)

Outdoor Activities (including sailing, skiing, laserball)
Golf Activity
Extreme Week (including surfing, mountain boarding, laserball)
Riding and Horse Management
Penewin Riding Stables - a 5-day riding challenge
Sea Fishing
Scuba Diving
Newquay Surf and Extreme Sports
Multi-activities programme (choice includes Circus Skills, Treasure Hunt, Beauty Therapy, Murder Mystery, Robotics and many more)

Full Week Residential Activities

North Wales (walking, canoeing, rock climbing, Alton Towers)
River Wye Canoe Trip (camping and canoeing)
London Extravaganza (museums, Madame Tussauds, theatre, cinema, and behind the scenes at the BBC
Costa Brava, Spain (Barcelone, Port Aventura theme park, water park)
Jersey Watersports (banana boating, canoeing, kite buggying, surfing, visit to the Durrell Wildlife Preservation Trust)
Two Parks and Paris (Disneyland, Parc Asterix and sightseeing in Paris)
Iceland (geysers, glaciers, volcanoes, hot pools)
Tossa de Mar, Spain (sea activites such as sailing, kayaking, snorkelling, and a day at Waterworld)
