But in February 2009, Callington Community College had to be closed on two occasions because of heavy snow falls.
Our students and staff come from a wide area, much of it rural. Even on major roads, conditions were treacherous, but many country lanes were impassable. Messages were posted on this website, and on the VLE, and broadcast on BBC Radio Cornwall, and the situation was managed very efficiently.
Students (and staff) who have seen snow in this area on only a handful of occasions in their lifetime, were able to enjoy building snowmen, having snowball fights and sledging, with a clear conscience!
