We congratulate Katie Crowell, Oliver Daw and Emily Moore (Year 13 students) who have been shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship. For the initial selection, the applicants had to answer a series of questions on different topics. They will now attend an Assessment Day in March 2010, and will know by the end of April whether they have been successful.
Fellows will spend six weeks in Brazil, China or India during the summer of 2010, learning first-hand about the social, economic and environmental impact of globalisation. Their time away is split roughly into three parts, although the issues arising from all three are interwoven and interdependent. These are Language and Culture, Family and School Life, and Working in the Global Economy
The programme does not end once the six weeks overseas are over. When Fellows are back in the UK they become part of a network of young people whose responsibility it is to communicate what they have learnt with as wide a community as possible. The British Council will present opportunities for Fellows to attend conferences and networking events to represent the programme and share their ideas. Fellows are expected to be independently proactive and creative in their methods of communication and the opportunities they make for themselves and others.
