The USC Thornton Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television (SMPTV) program is one of the world's most acclaimed programs of its kind, and Simon is "over the moon" at being offered one of only 20 places, following on from four years of study at the Royal College of Music, London.
Many well-known film and TV musicians have taken the course. Simon will have the opportunity to record music in the same studios that blockbuster soundtracks are recorded in, with the same players. There may also be a chance to work on the music team for "Lost" as part of an internship.
We hope that one day in the not too distant future, Simon will be writing music for TV, films, video games, or just about any form of media that requires music.
We congratulate him and wish him all the best in California.
The picture to the right shows Simon playing the drums, as he used to do while still a student at Callington.
