Callington Students celebrate Chinese New Year

A Chinese New Year Festival was held in Plymouth for students from "Confucius Classroom" schools.

SSAT (Specialist Schools and Academies Trust) Peninsula Group Confucius Classroom celebrated Chinese New Year on Wednesday 10 February 2010.

They invited over 160 students from four schools forming the group Confucius Classroom to attend a Chinese New Year Festival in Plymouth.

The day started with traditional lion dancing performed by a group of artists travelling from Heilongjiang University in China. Students enjoyed the cultural performances as well as got hands-on experience of Kung Fu, Tai Chi, making Chinese tea and acting as a dancing lion at workshops throughout the day.

Students expressed their good wishes for the coming of Chinese New Year by saying 'Guo Nian Hao' (Happy New Year) in front of the camera.
