Callington student wins Golfing Scholarship

A Year 13 student has won a Golfing Scholarship to study Marketing at Jacksonville State University, Alabama, USA...

Micah Carroll is a County Player and has been a member of Launceston Golf Club since the age of 10.  Micah's Dad was the driving force behind her passion for Golf, as he is a player himself.

In 2008, Micah's achievements included:

• won South West England girl championships with a score of 146 (level)
• won the challenge cup at the south west girls with a 72 gross (1 under)
• won 5 Daily Telegraph competitions: score ranged between 72 and 80
• Cornwall Junior girls U18 county champion gross 75 (+3)
• qualified top 32 in the English Girls U18 championships 158 (+12)
• quarter finalist in the Cornwall Ladies Championships
• gained her Cornwall Ladies 1^st Team Colours
• holds the course Record at North Wiltshire Golf Club with a gross 72 (1 under)

During 2007, Micah finished 7th in the Junior Daily Telegraph Grand Final in Dubai 75, 76, 82.
