The Colts beat the Newquay team 5 - 1 in the County final on April 19th. They will now go on to compete against five other counties in the Regional final, to be held at the BAWA Sports Leisure Centre in Bristol on May 3rd 2009.
Callington Colts is one of the largest youth sports clubs in Cornwall. They have 12 teams playing in the Devon Junior and Minor League and one in the SE Cornwall League ranging from Under 9's to Under 16's. They also have an Adult disAbility team and run training sessions for Under 8's. The club have close ties with Callington Town FC and Callington Ladies so there is a natural progression for all the players when they wish to move into senior football.
By coincidence, the under-16 girls' team members at present are all students at Callington Community College, and their coach is Carolyn Parsons, who is a technician in the Food Technology department.
If the girls win in Bristol they will go on to represent South West England in the national finals. We wish them every success.
