The Department

The Science Department is the largest department in the college, with 13 well qualified staff

In September 2008 we will be in the extremely fortunate position to have four labs that are 2 years old and another seven that have been refurbished within the last year. The labs are very well equipped, containing interactive whiteboards and projectors and provide a stimulating environment for students to study science.

The department has a strong commitment to practical work and is fortunate in being supported by a team of three experienced technicians.

As a department we aim to:

  • Stimulate students' interest in, and enjoyment of science, and to sustain that interest throughout college life and beyond
  • Help all students, irrespective of background, to achieve their full potential
  • Provide a safe and caring environment in which students can develop those skills which are relevant to science, in addition to helping develop personal, social, health and citizenship education
  • Prepare students for adult life in a society that is increasingly dependent on the application of science and technology
