The Department

The Art Department is located in a purpose-built block dedicated to Art & Design and Creative Media.

The department has three general Art rooms, a Surface Design Studio, a computer suite of 20 Apple Macs and a large exhibition area.

We hold several exhibitions throughout the year and students exhibit their work at every key stage. We offer general Art & Design and 2 condensed Surface Design modules at key stage 3, Art & Design and Surface Design at key stage 4 and A Level Art & Design and Applied A Level at key stage 5. We also have a new GCSE Photography course.

We offer lots of extra-curricular opportunities and have been involved in many projects beyond the College. These include:

• murals in Callington
• projects with feeder schools that have been displayed at the Eden Project
• help with college productions
• designing of the stained glass windows in the library
• work with several local artists

The Art department played an active role in obtaining Artsmark Gold status. The Artsmark Gold is a national award scheme managed by the Arts Council of England that recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts.
